June 18, 2012 at 7:00 AM EDT

LOS CABOS, Mexico, June 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- ManpowerGroup, the world leader in innovative workforce solutions, will deliver five global scalable priorities for boosting and sustaining employment worldwide in a session held today at the G20 Leaders' Summit. Created by the World Economic Forum's brand-new Business 20 (B20) Task Force on Employment, the priorities, packaged with concrete actions and required commitments needed from businesses, governments and educators were designed to be piloted across a subset of G20 countries.

Jeffrey A. Joerres, ManpowerGroup Chairman and CEO, co-chairs the B20 task force with Kris Gopalakrishnan, Executive Co-Chairman of Infosys.  More than a dozen other executives and NGO leaders serve on the task force. Their work has culminated in the following top five B20 Priority Actions for Los Cabos:

1. Commit to strategic infrastructure investments.
2. Implement structural labour market reforms and policies.
3. Facilitate the growth of small and medium enterprises and innovative business models.
4. Improve collaboration between business and educational institutions.
5. Scale internships and apprenticeships.

Numbers 3 and 5, in particular, provide significant opportunities for G20 stakeholders to drive job creation. The task force's overall findings cite effective public-private workforce initiatives that illustrate these top priorities. Since January the task force has met to discuss steps required to remodel and scale select initiatives in different regions. One source of inspiration was ManpowerGroup's Shanghai New Business Starters initiative, which works with the municipal government to advance entrepreneurship. More than 50,000 individuals have been exposed to this program.

"These priorities represent the most extensive master plan — yet seen in the Human Age — for sustaining the talent pipeline needed to drive economic growth across the world," said Joerres. "It's a privilege to leverage ManpowerGroup's innovative workforce solutions, while defining the complex public-private sector infrastructure, needed to relentlessly recruit, train and develop the world's talent. The complex challenges posed by the Human Age demanded a strategic blueprint for helping G20 nations recognize that tapping the potential of their people is the secret to economic and financial success."

June 18th, Monday
Joerres will speak, as a panelist, at the "Business Solutions and Strategies to Address Global Challenges" session at the Hilton Los Cabos. Other speakers include Paul Polman, CEO of Unilver; Daniel Servitje Montull, CEO of Grupo Bimbo; Carlos Slim, Chairman and CEO of Telmex and América Móvil; and Moderator Robert Greenhill, Managing Director and Chief Business Officer of the World Economic Forum.

The B20 Priority Actions for Los Cabos can potentially reduce the expected unemployment rate in advanced and emerging economies over the next 10 years. G20 stakeholders are being asked to analyze the scalability of the priorities at a local level due to varied social, political, and economic factors; and how the stakeholders implementing these initiatives will be held accountable over time.

The B20 — comprised of company, academic and NGO leaders — provides heads of state and other government leaders in the G20 with meaningful recommendations for driving global economic growth and social development. Joerres and other task force members were chosen on the basis that they possess the essential expertise and influence needed to implement the recommendations.

The influential G20 countries represent roughly 90% of global gross domestic product (GDP), 80% of global trade and two-thirds of the world's population. The meeting of heads of state and government is considered a premier forum for international cooperation on the economy and finance.  This is the G20's first meeting in Latin America, an acknowledgement of the region's growing global influence.

In addition to the European Union, G20 member countries are: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Republic of Korea, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, United Kingdom and the United States.
