PARIS, Nov. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Jeffrey A. Joerres, Executive Chairman of ManpowerGroup (NYSE: MAN), yesterday accepted his award as Chevalier dans l´ordre de la Légion d´Honneur (Knight in the French National Order of the Legion of Honor) from Benedict Donnelly, president of the Hermione-La Fayette Association, during a ceremony at the "Cercle National des Armées" (Army National Circle) in Paris. The Hermione-La Fayette Association is a symbol of the Franco-American friendship. The award,
presented to Joerres by decree of the President of France, is the highest decoration granted by the French government.
First announced in July, the award acknowledges Joerres' accomplishments in the field of employment as well as his personal commitment and contribution to the French economy. In bestowing the award, the French government focused on Joerres' leadership expertise in the world of work and his pioneering achievements in designing and implementing innovative workforce solutions to connect candidates with meaningful work around the globe. Joerres assumed the role of ManpowerGroup Executive Chairman on May 1, 2014 after 15 years as CEO. Having joined the organization in 1993, Joerres served as Vice President of Marketing and Senior Vice President of European Operations and Global Account Management. In 1999, he was named CEO, and in 2001, Chairman of the Board.
In addition to the ManpowerGroup board, Joerres is past Chairman and current member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago board of directors, serves on the boards of Johnson Controls, Artisan Partners Asset Management, Western Union and the Committee for Economic Development (CED), and is chair of the Future Workforce Committee of the Greater Milwaukee Committee. Joerres has a bachelor's degree from Marquette University's College of Business Administration.
